Memorial services will be 10:30 A.M., Friday, February 8, 2013, a the Warner Chapel in Spencer.

Military Services will be conducted by the American Legion - Glen Pedersen Post #1.

Willie Nels Krogh, the son of Lars and Sophie (Peterson) Krogh, was born on May 29, 1924, in Flandreau, SD. His early years were spent in the Flandreau and Eagen areas.

Following school, he entered into the military on October 5, 1946. He served in the United States Army, during WWII. He was stationed in Korea. While in the Army he received the WWII Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal Japan. He was honorably discharged on March 4, 1948.

After his discharge, he attended Iowa State University for a short time attending some agricultural classes and also learned how to shear sheep.

On January 16, 1955, Nels married Marjorie Willard in Spirit Lake, IA. They lived in Spirit Lake and then moved to a farm south of Dickens, where they farmed, before moving to Spencer over 20 years ago.

Nels raised a lot of livestock, and went to a lot of farm sales over the years. Nels and Marjorie loved to travel, spending their winters in Laughlin, NV for the last 30 years. They loved to go to dances at the Eagle's Club. He enjoyed listening polka music and was a big practical joker. He was mostly proud of his grandkids and their career in the military.

Nels passed away on February, 4, 2013, at the St Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer, at the age of 88.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marjorie, sons: Larry (Evelyn) of Spencer, David (Betty) of Dickens, and Gary of Spencer; his daughter, Janice and her fianc', Barry Cobler of Gum Spring, VA; four grandsons: Jason (Brandy) of Ft. Campbell, KY, David (Molly) of Mt. Home AFB, ID, Gary of Spirit Lake, Micheal of Minot AFB, ND; one granddaughter, Amie Ormsby (Max) of Parma, ID; five great grandsons: Sean, Ethan, Blake, Karson and Kolten and one great granddaughter, Claire.
