Gunnarson Funeral Is Held Here

Funeral services were held here Saturday afternoon at the Congregational church for Miss Alma Gunnarson, who died at the family home south of Peterson, January 3rd. Following the usual service directed by Rev. C.A. Hyde, the Order of the Eastern Star, of which deceased had been a faithful member, gave its ritual for a departed member. Pall bearers were Leo F. Richard, Wm. Myers, Victor Baumhoefner, Paul Mahn, George Kracht and Jesse Fastenow. Music was furnished by Miss Betty Jarnagin and Mrs. Roy A. Jarnagin with the church organist, Miss Luetta Raveling at the piano.

Obituary

Alma Gunnarson, the eldest daugther of Carl and Johanna Gunnarson, was born near Falkenberg, Sweden October 1890. At the age of 13 months she came to this vicinity with her parents and brother Andrew. Her entire life spent in or near Peterson. On October 3, 1914 she was stricken with a cerebral hemorrhage which caused her to be an invalid, although she did not loose confidence in partially regaining health until December 25 when her condition became worse and she was called to rest January 3, 1945. Alma was a member of the Wild Rose chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. She was an esteemed member of various clubs in her community and among gatherings of her many friends. She was also a member and willing worker of the Lady Helpers.

Surviving are her mother, three brothers, Edward, Charles and Harry, two sisters, Mrs. Ida Stoner and Mrs. Esther Saunders, and many relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her father, her sister, Florence Plagman and her brother Andrew of Muscatine, Iowa.

Her's was a generous, charitable, and kind life, with a though for the deeper, and better things in living. Her cheerful and sunny disposition made friends of all her acquaintances. Her's was full and rich life at home or helping others, with thoughtfulness and generosity toward all.
