January 1, 1958Orva E. Engel was born in O'Brien County, near Gaza, January 20, 1911 to Henry and Margaret Ohme. At an early age she with her parents, brother and sisters, moved to Osceola County on a farm near Allendorf and later to the Ocheyedan vicinity.
She was a graduate of the Sibley High School for several and taught school for several years in Osceola County.
On November 25, 1932, Orva Ohme and Kenneth Engel were united in bonds of holy matrimony. this union was blessed with one son, Robert Engel, now living in Paullina. They lived on a farm near Ocheyedan for a short time moving from there to Monet where they spent a little over 25 years.
She was a member of the Moneta Methodist Church and active participant in church and community affairs. For the past four years, she had been in poor health. On New Years Day she died at the Hand Hospital in Hartley at the age of 46.
Surviving the deceased are her husband, Kenneth, one son, Robert, one grandson, one sister, Alma Wilson of Ocheyedan, two brothers, Kildore and Ivan Ohme of Ocheyedan.
Her father and mother and one sister, Agnes Hubbard preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 4, at 1;30 p.m. at the Warner Chapel with Rev. H.G. Dawes and Rev. Denton Erickson officiating.
Pallbearers; Harry Lyman, Wayne Woodall, Russel Runkle, Byron Aldrich, L.B. Keene and Lee Raymond.
Burial was in Riverside Cemetery.
