Murlend Chester Kelly

January 1, 1958Murlend Chester Kelly was born August 8, 1900 at Pleasantville, the son of James A. Kelly and May (Mozack)Kelly. He died January 1 at the Spencer Municipal Hospital at the age of 57 years, four months and 23 days.
At Des Moines on February 28, 1925, he was united in marriage to Ethel M. Ellison. To this union was born two sons, Dale W. Kelly of Beaumont, Texas and Clyde R. Kelly of Jacksonville, Arkansas.
The family lived in Spencer for the past 27 years, 25 years being spent in the oil business and in recent years he engaged in real estate.
He was known by his many friends as Mac.
He is survived by his wife, his two sons and one half brother, Cecil Hudson of Minot, North Dakota, five grandchildren; Sharon Lynette, Michael Colin, Stephen, James, John and numerous other relatives and friends who mourn his early death.
He was a member of Evening Shade Masonic Lodge in Spencer.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 4, at 3p.m. at the Warner Chapel with Rev. F.A. Smith officiating.
Masonic services also were conducted.
Pallbearers; Syl Kindlespire, William Knipe, Ralph Wyatt, Ivan McCurdy, Eb Keyes and Francis Fisher.
Burial was in North Lawn Cemetery.
