Bell Retta Correll Kirby daughter of Samuel and Sophia (Harnes) Correll was born in Watseka, Illinois on February 6, 1867 and died at the Spencer Municipal Hospital, February 19 at the age of 91 years 13 days. She was one of three children, one of whom preceded her in death.

She was married to Ira Newton Kirby at Watseka, Illinois on March 2, 1887. To this union two children were born, Mrs. Zola Anderson preceded her mother in death. The son, Ernest Kirby of Milford survives. One sister, Mrs. Emma Seward of Oakland, Illinois also survives. There are five grandchildren, Namely, Mrs. Kathryn Hewett Camden, South Carolina; Mrs. Patricia Hughes, Mexico City, Mexico; Mrs. Lucretia Gould, Willoughby, Ohio; Kirby Anderson of Greenville, Iowa and Mrs. Anna Bell Randolph of Council Bluffs, twelve great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family went from Illinois to Nebraska where they lived for a short time. They then came to Clay County, Iowa which has been their home for the past 55 years. In 1949 they moved from their farm near Greenville to Spencer where they have lived since retirement.

She was a member of the Royal Neighbor lodge and the Grace Methodist Church.

Mr. Kirby died March 23, 1957.

Altho past 90 years of age she has continued to live in here home in Spencer where she enjoyed receiving her many friends and neighbors.

Funeral services were held Friday, February 21 at 2 p.m. at the Warner Chapel with Rev. F.A. Smith officiating.

Pallbearers; Homer Runge, Thoral All, Elmer Bargloff, Earl Keiser, S.P. Delaney and Vernon Fletcher.

Interment was in Riverside Cemetery.
