January 5, 2003Services were held January 9, at the Turner Funeral Home for Helen Elizabeth Barker, who passed away on January 5 at Mercy Hospital in Sioux City. Rev. Bruce Branson officiated.
Interment was at the Northlawn Cemetery in Spencer.
Helen Elizabeth Barker was born on March 29, 1933 to Albert and Georgia (Woodley) Jochims in Spencer.
On October 3, 1951, she was married to Everett Barker in Jackson, Minnesota. They made their home in the Spencer area, moving to Hartley in 1971. In addition to cooking for her family, she enjoyed gardening, embroidering and fishing.
Helen is survived by three sons and their wives; Jerry and Patty Barker of Montrose, Colorado; Dale and Mary Barker of Gaffney, South Carolina; and Danny and Teri Barker of Latimer, Iowa; two daughters and their families; JoAnn and Tom Mills of Spencer and Kay Dahlberg of Laurens; two brothers, Vernon Jochims of Arnolds Park and Victor Jochims of Spencer; sister, Cindy Hausmann of Ida Grove; 18 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and special friends, LeRoy Dahlberg of Laurens, Sara Barker and Dave Welle of Milford.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Everett on October 30, 1991; grandson, Timothy Mills in 1979 and one great grandchildren, Betsey Anna Hope Bartley in 1992.
Turner Funeral Home in Milford was in charge of arrangements.
