October 27, 1991Elmer Herman Anderson, 95, of Spencer, died Sunday, October 27 at the Ruthven Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the First Christian Church in Spencer with the Rev. David Nash officiating.
Casket Bearers; Joel Anderson, Kevin Anderson, Kent Anderson, Steve Werts, Bradley Anderson, Stanley Nissen, Gene Sagan, Bill Mullane, Dick McCord, John Anderson, Barry Anderson, Michael Werts, Randall Anderson, Rodney Anderson, Charles Sjogren, Lou Turcotte, Clark Davidson and Tim Jones.
Burial will be at North Lawn Cemetery, Spencer.
The son of Charles and Anna Matilda (Gustafson) Anderson. Elmer Anderson was born on September 16, 1896, near Greenville. His childhood years were spent in rural Greenville where he received his early education in the Harmony area.
On May 27, 1926, he married Celia Davis in Spencer. He continued farming until 1959 when he and Celia moved to Spencer. In Spencer he helped with farm work and construction work.
He was a member of the First Christian Church where he served on the board and was a member of the Gillett Grove School Board, A.S.C.S. Board, the Federal Land Bank Board and the Farm Bureau.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one brother and three sisters.
He is survived by three sons and their wives; The Rev. Ronald and the Rev. Clela Anderson of Bridgeton, Missouri. Wendell and Vivian of Greenville, Deane and Margaret also of Greenville; three daughters and their husbands; Wilma and Russell Werts of Carrollton, Georgia, Doris and Donald Nissen of Spencer, and Lola and Lowell Sjogren of Sibley; 21 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.
Warner Funeral Home of Spencer was in charge of arrangements.
