Death of an Old Settler
By the death of Horace Porter Stone at his home in Dickens, Monday, one of the oldest residents of the county died, and also one of the oldest men in the county.
Mr. Stone was born in Maine in 1813. He was a little over ninety-four years old at the time of his death. He had always been an active and energetic man. Mr. Stone came to this county in November 18??, and settled on a farm in Freeman township.
Mr. Stone was an active member of the Methodist church and was always a very religious man.
He has lived and long and useful life, and could tell of many incidents of the past. He leaves to mourn his loss a wife, daughter, Mrs. A.O. Miller of Dickens, one son, Charles M. Stone of Dickens.
The funeral was held at that place yesterday.
