Mabel Spencer Wyatt was born at Sugar Grove, Ill., Jan. 1, 1874. She was bereft of her mother when only three years of age. Her girlhood was spent on a farm near Sugar Grove and later at Aurora, Ill., where her parents moved and where she attended high school. She professed Christianity early in life and was an active worker for the Master.

On Jan. 16, 1895, she was married to Wilfred W. Wyatt and they resided on a farm near Big Rock, Ill., until the spring of 1898 when they moved to the Wyatt farm near Spencer and later moved to their farm northwest of Spencer. The last year and a half was spent in Tennessee and in Texas where they finally went hoping that a change of climate might benefit Mrs. Wyatt's health.

There was born to this worthy couple two children, Harlan S. Wyatt, who died at Spencer June 11, 1907, and Ruth Wyatt, a little daughter now four and a half years of age.

Mrs. Wyatt was an active and consistent member of the Methodist Episcopal Church at Fostoria, a member and teacher in the Sunday school and a member of the different auxiliary societies of the church. She was a tender and loving mother and had a most beautiful Christian character. Her disposition was sunny and cheerful and to know her was to love her.

She passed peacefully away at the home of her brother, Ralph O. Spencer, at Austin, Ill., in the early morning of Thursday, July 18, 1907, surrounded by loved ones. Not only was she carrying the physical burden of sickness and disease during the past weeks but she was carrying a greater burden of sorrow and affliction enough to crush a less heroic and trustful soul, having lost by death father, brother and son within a few weeks of each other.

Funeral services were held at Austin on Friday and the body was brought to Spencer on Saturday for interment, accompanied by the husband Wilfred W. Wyatt, and the brother, Ralph C. Spencer. Funeral services were held at the home of Mr. H.J. Buck in this city on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock Rev. C.D. Royse assisted by Rev. E.E. Evans officiating. There were many beautiful floral tributes from both relatives and friends. Interment was made at Riverside cemetery where sleep the son and the brother.
