The Baby Gone

On the first day of October, 1915, Edwin M. Kolb, of Summit township, stepped into the News office with a smiling face and ordered birth announcements for Kenson J., the first born son, whose arrival in the early hours of the day had gladdened the home of Mr. and Mrs. Kolb. The cards went away through the mails, to announce the good news. A new light had come into the hearts and home. A little flower had just blossomed to cheer them with its fragrance, and they were dreaming and planning for the future. But this was to last only twenty-one short days, for on Thursday last, October 21st, the pale messenger of death came and bore away the little one and now arms are empty and the home seems empty. But the little life was not in vain, for heaven is nearer, hope has new meaning and precious memories have been enshrined in two hearts that will abide throughout the years. Funeral services were held at the home on Friday, conducted by O.M. Bond, and the precious form was laid away in Riverside, and love and faith will wait for a brighter tomorrow. Mr. and Mrs. Kolb wish to express through the News, their grateful appreciation of the many kindnesses shown them by friends and neighbors in the time of their great sorrow.
