Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Royal, with the Rev. Susan Carloss officiating
Casket Bearers; Gary Huberg, Richard Thiesen, Greg Toft, Laef Lundbeck, Larry Pedersen and Steve Santage
Burial will be at Willow Creek Cemetery, Royal
Robert William Ekberg, the son of Henry and Nina (Nickleson) Ekberg, was born July 6, 1921 in St. Paul, Minnesota. He received his education in Spencer and graduated from Spencer High School in 1940
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1941 to 1945 in the Atlantic Theatre
He married Donnabell M. Walstrom on August 4, 1946, in Royal. Following their marriage the couple lived in Spencer until 1948 when they moved to Royal. He brought livestock with Franz Walstrom until 1964. He was a Pioneer Seed salesman for 15 years retiring in 1988.
He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Royal. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching sports.
Mr Ekberg was preceded in death by his parents
He is survived by his wife, two daughter, Diane Blann and her husband, Tom of Omaha, Nebraska and Joan Moldovan and her husband, Emil, of Chino Hills, California, one son, Robert G. Ekberg of Royal, five grandchildren and one brother, Edward (Bud) and his wife, Zola of Yuba City, California
The Warner Funeral Home of Spencer was in charge of arrangements
