March 16, 1999Phillip Caquelin, 32, Davenport, formerly of Spencer, died Tuesday, March 16, 1999, from injuries sustained in a car accident near Rockwell City.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Warner Chapel, Spencer.
Casket Bearers: Joe Mozena, Chris Mozena, Tracy Small, Tom Mozena, Tim Walters and Jim Nalley
Honorary Casket Bearers: Alec Caquelin and Jordyn Caquelin
Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery
Phillip Arthur Caquelin, the son of Don and Evelyn (Peterson) Caquelin, was born February 10, 1967 in Fort Yates, North Dakota. He moved to Spencer when he was two years old. He received his education in Spencer, graduating from Spencer High School.
Following his schooling, he lived in Sioux City and Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where he worked as a painter. For the last six months, he was employed in Davenport for a a janitor service and roofing business
Phillip spent his time searching for information regarding his American Indian Heritage and enjoyed American Indian Spiritual readings and art along with visiting the reservation. He alson enjoyed writing and had planned to write a book about his heritage.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Tim (Taco) Caquelin
Phillip is survived by his parents, a brother, Robert of Loveland, Colorado, three sisters, Retta Mozena and her husband, David of Boone, Jane Walters and her husband, Tim of Chesapeake City, Maryland and Sheree Caquelin of Spencer; his maternal grandmother, Gladys Peterson of Gravette, Arkansas and seven nieces and nephews, Chris, Tom, Joe, and Casey Mozena, Tim A Walters and Alex and Jordyn Caquelin
The Warner Funeral Home of Spencer was in charge of arrangements
