Darlene Merrill, 72, Spencer, died Sunday, March 14, 1999 at St. Luke Lutheran Home, Spencer

Funeral services will be held today at 2p.m. at the Warner Chapel, Spencer, with the Rev. Paul Hanse officiating

Casket Bearers; Brad Zelinsky, Jerry Zelinsky, Craig Merrill, Brian Zelinsky, Doug Merrill and Tom Higgins

Burial will be held at the Riverside Cemetery, Spencer

Darlene LaVonne Merrill, the daughter of Vernon and Mildred(Crookshank) Smith was born December 23, 1926 in Ruthven. Her childhood years were spent in Ruthven, where she received her education in country school. Later graduating from Ruthven High School in 1944. After her graduation she worked at various businesses along with attending and graduating from Comptomeier Business School in Des Moines

She married Irving A Merrill on September 5, 1948 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Following their marriage, they lived in Portage, Wisconsin until settling in Spencer in 1957

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother

Mrs. Merrill is survived by her husband, one son, Bruce and his wife, Jo of Greenville, her stepmother, Edith Smith of Elk Point, South Dakota, three step-brothers, Ron Molzen and his wife, Sharon of Amherst, New York, Cohn Molzen and his wife, Cindy of Woodbridge, Virginia and Gary Molzen and his wife, Geneva of Sioux Falls, South Dakota

The Warner Funeral Home of Spencer was in charge of arrangements
