March 7, 1999Melba J Sorenson, 77, West Des Moines, died Sunday, March 7, 1999 of congestive heart failure at Fountain West Care Center, West Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 10 at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens
Burial will at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 11 at the Dickens Cemetery, Dickens.
Melba J Sorenson was born in Dickens, the daughter of John Ward and Opal Grace (Newell) Wilson.
She married George Henry Sorenson on October 6, 1940.
She was resident of Johnston most of her life and retired from the Johnston School District as a school bus driver.
She was a member of IWANA-GO, Polk-Co-Dots, Johnston Garden Club, Des Moines Garden Club, Johnston Senior Citizens, Urbandale United Church of Chris, American Business Women's Association and Johnston Lionels.
Mrs Sorenson was a judge for the National Garden Club Association the Iowa State Fair
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents
She is survived by a daughter, Kathleen French of Johnston, two sons, Kristian Sorenson of St. John, Ind., Kurtis Sorenson of West Des Moines, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren
