Lyal Clark, Jr., 63, Carter Lake, formerly of Spencer, died Thursday, March 4, 1999 at his home in Carter Lake

Graveside services will be held on Monday, March 8, at 2 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery, Spencer, with the Rev. Tom Tassell officiating

Lyal Charles Clark, Jr. was born February 6, 1936 in Emmetsburg, the son of Lyal, Sr. and Cecil (Thornton) Clark. His childhood years were spent in Emmetsburg where he attended elementary school. During his teens, the family moved to Spencer where he attended high school.

In the early 50's he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Korea and Japan

Lyal married Elizabeth Eloise Fredin of Rossie on November 24, 1956, in Spencer. Following their marriage, they lived in Spencer for a short time. They later moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where he attended Universal Trade School. After graduation, he was employed as a salesman by Mid-Continent Bottlers where he worked for 28 years.

He was a partner in a ceramic business started by his wife, which developed into a large national wholesale gift ware network. As the business developed, they moved to La Habra, California, where they lived for 11 years. Lyal especially enjoyed traveling to the many gift ware market shows. In recent years, they relocated their business to Carter Lake where they currently reside

He was affiliated with the United Methodist Church, was a member of the DAV(Disabled American Veterans and the Boy Scouts of America

Mr Clark was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Scotty Lee of Clear Lake; a daughter, Penny Elizabeth Clark of Yutan, Nebraska; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild, two brothers, Dale Clark of Dickens and Bob Clark of San Francisco, California; three sisters, Cecil Ann Bishop of Medical Lake, Washington, Irene Kelly of Yuba City, California and Mary Griffith of Grand Prairie, Texas

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer was in charge of arrangements
