On the sixteenth of this month occurred the death of one of Clay County's most respected citizens, Roy Arms. Mr. Arms was born at Spencer, July 2, 1878, and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. H. Arms, who were among the early residents of this county. He attended school here and prepared himself for college. He attended the Edgar P. Ellison Bible Training School at Marshalltown for several years. Later he went to Penn College at Oskaloosa. It was at the latter college that he met Miss Mable Garret, of Oklahoma City, Okla., whom he married June 2, 1906. Their four children, Herbert Ackley, Pearl Elizabeth, Florence Mary and Beatrice Evelyn survive him. There are also left to mourn his death, his wife, his mother, Mrs. Wm. H. Arms, five brothers, Harlow Arms of Spencer, Rev. Clinton Arms, pastor of a S.D. M.E. church, and Russel, Monroe, and Ralph, who are attending college in Oskaloosa; three sisters, Ruby, a student in Holiness College, Mrs. Comfort of Stockport, and Miss Laura, a missionary in Jamaica.

Roy Arms was the kind of citizen Clay County could ill afford to lose. His life, his work, and his influence, were all on the side of right and the church. He was a member of the Friends Church at Greenville and was superintendent of the Sunday School. And though he lived some four miles from the church, he was regular in attendance, both morning and evening. We became acquainted with him soon after coming to Clay County and were impressed with his genial, manly, and genuine Christian spirit. He will be greatly missed from the church and the community. His place will be hard to fill. But he is not lost to his loved ones--only gone before. The funeral services were held at the Friends Church in Greenville, last Tuesday, and were largely attended. There were beautiful floral offerings. Interment was at Riverside.
