April 4, 2003A funeral service for Ronald VonHoldt, 60 of Spencer was held Monday, April 7, 2003 at the Warner Funeral Home Chapel in Spencer. The Rev. Charles W. Schoeninger led the 1 p.m. service.
Mr. VonHoldt died at the Spencer Municipal Hospital on Friday, April 4.
Casket Bearers; Ron Manwarren, Ron Fisher, Jim (Slim) Farnes, Frank Schoorman, Mike (Dike) Dlugosch and Neal Cooksey.
Honorary Casket Bearers; Adam Berger and Jim Jackson
Burial was at North Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion#1 of Spencer
Ronald Fay VonHoldt the son of Herman and Elizabeth (Sproessig) VonHoldat was born June 19, 1942 in Harris. He graduated from Lake Park High School in 1960
On August 11, 1961 he entered the United States Army in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and served during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on August 10, 1967 at Camp Benning, Georgia
On March 13, 1965 he married Alice Stevenson in Spencer. They moved to Ayrshire where he worked at the elevator for two years before moving back to Spencer. He worked at the Spencer Pack until they closed. He then worked for the Albert City Elevator for about one year, did construction work and then worked at the port office until retirement in October 2002
Mr. VonHoldt was a longtime member of the Eagles Club
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one granddaughter.
Survivors include his wife; one son and his wife, Ron and Becky of Fairmont, Minnesota; daughter, Angela VonHoldt of Custer, South Dakota; four grandchildren; two brothers and their wives; Dave and Collette VonHoldt of Lake Park and Richard and Doris VonHoldt of Casper, Wyoming; four sisters; Mary Ann Artrip of Huntingon, West Virginia, Betty Johnson of Loveland, Colorado, Cathy and her husband Dave Morse of Brookings, South Dakota and Joy and her husband, Dave Decker of Spencer; other relatives
