Rasmus Ericksen Dead

Rasmus Ericksen was born in Skjar Jutland, Denmark, June 30, 1831. He came to America in 1868 and resided at Racine, Wisconsin. About ten years after that he came to Clay county, and settled in Clay township, where he resided until death, thus having lived in this county for thirty-five years. He enjoyed good health until a few years ago.

Rasmus and his brother, Mads Ericksen, have lived their long life together, and the remaining brother indeed feels a great loss.

On Feb. 4, he had a severe attack of paralysis, and from that time until his death he was unable to talk to any extent. Shorty before his death he seemed better but a sudden change soon ended his useful life. He died Feb. 11, aged 80 years, 7 months and 11 days. Of immediate relatives he leaves his brother, Mads of Royal and sister, Mrs. Treeby, of Spencer.

Mr. Erickson worked at the carpenter trade for a number of years in the old country, and in America.

He served in the Danish army during the war with Germany, and for two years was a sailor.

The funeral was held at the Danish Lutheran church in Royal Wednesday, Feb. 14, the services being conducted by Rev. Soholm and sone, Albert, and the interment was in the cemetery at Clay Center.
