Katherine Fisher Walker, 1844-1931

Mrs. Katherine Walker of Spencer, 87 years of age, passed away Wednesday morning, July 29, 1931, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sam Meyer, south of Spencer, where she had been residing for the past few years. Death was caused from senility.

Katherine Fisher was born April 15, 1844, the oldest daughter of Solomon and Barbara Fisher, at Rock Grove, Illinois. She was united in marriage to J.S. Walker January 1, 1867. They came to Clay county in 1900 and returned to Illinois five years later. Fifteen years ago, they returned to Iowa. Mr. Walker preceded her in death August 3, 1924. Nine children were born to this union, three dying in infancy.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Phil Sakman, Mrs. Roy McCauley and Mrs. Sam Meyer, all of Spencer, and three sons, William Walker of San Diego, California, Charles Walker of Delhi, Minnesota, and Harry Walker of Dakota, Illinois.

Funeral arrangements had not been completed at the time of this issue but services will be held at the Cobb Funeral Home this afternoon, Thursday, and burial will be made at Rock Grove, Illinois, where Mr. Walker lies at rest.
