OLD SETTLER DEAD

Mrs. Cornelius Lounsberry

Mrs. Cornelius Lounsberry, one of the pioneers of Clay county, passed away Thursday, October 6, at her home in this city. For several years she had been treated for heart trouble and the best medical aid had been consulted but to no avail. She died as she had lived, at peace with all the world. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church, of which she had been a faithful member for many years, Saturday afternoon conducted by Rev. O.M. Bond. Interment was made in Riverside cemetery.

Rosilla Bailey was born in Belfast, New York, October 24, 1848. On September 23, 1869 she was united in marriage in Oramel, N.Y. to C. Lounsberry and to this union was born one son who died in 1878. In 1869 deceased came to Clay county with her husband and homesteaded a short distancy southwest of this city where they lived until about eight years ago when they became residents of Spencer. The remaining relatives are the husband, a sister in New York and a brother residing in this state. Those present from abroad who attended the funeral were a nephew, S. Lounsberry, of Montevideo, Minnesota, another nephew and wife, Mr. and Mrs. A.K. Lounsberry, of Mason City, and a friend, Joseph Howe, of Anamosa.
