Two Pioneer Mothers Dead

Mrs. Henry Aebly and Mrs. Esther Covert Kimball Dead; Both Buried in Riverside Cemetery

Harriet Elizabeth Rodgers was born at Monticello, New York, September 24, 1841, and died at her home three miles east of Langdon on August 7, 1919.

She was married to Henry Aebly, March 18, 1868, in Jordan, Wisconsin. There were six children born to this union; four boys and two girls, as follows: Henry, George, Jacob, Fred, and Maggie and Grace, Mrs. Galbraith, now deceased.

Mr and Mrs. Aebly came to Clay county in 1871 and settled east of the early settlers of this county. Honest, industrious and upright citizens, honored and respected by their neighbors, always ready and willing to extend a helping hand to those less favored than themselves.

Mrs. Aebly was for the greater part of her life a true Christian woman and a member of the Free Methodist church, a devoted wife and mother.

Mrs. Aebly had been sick for several months but the end came peacefully.

The funeral services were held in M.E. church at Langdon, conducted by Rev. J.S. Hutchings, and interment was made in Riverside cemetery, Spencer, Sunday, August 10, 1919.
