Death of Mrs. Geo. Bisbee

The people of this community were greatly shocked Thursday morning when a message was received from Wichita, Kansas, announcing the death of Mrs. Geo. M. Bisbee, of Summit township, at the home of her daughter. Mrs. Ida Thompson of that place on Wednesday, July 26th.

Three weeks ago last Friday Mrs. Bisbee in company with her husband left Spencer for a several weeks visit with her daughter, which had passed mostly pleasantly, and they were making preparations to go to Running Water, South Dakota, for a visit with the Ira Cottrell family when death caused by heart trouble, came to her suddenly. She was sick but a few moments when she was peacefully passed away to the great beyond.

Helen Dearborn was born April 8th, 1840, in the state of New York, and when two years old moved to Racine County, Wisconsin. On July 25th, 1856, she was united in marriage to Geo. M. Bisbee. Six children were born to this union, two girls dying in infancy and one son, Frank, who died November 27, 1909. Those living are two sons, Luke and Elmer, who live at home, and one daughter, Mrs. Ida Thompson, of Wichita, Kansas.

The remains were brought to this city Friday afternoon accompanied by the husband, daughter, Mrs. Thompson, and granddaughter, Miss Berta, a friend, Mrs. Wait of Kansas City, and taken to the home in Summit where funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock by Rev. Empey, of Sioux City, and the remained accompanied by a large cortege of friends and the Womans Relief Corps of which deceased was an honored member, having been chaplain of that organization for over fourteen years, were laid to rest in Riverside cemetery.

Mrs. Bisbee was a woman of a quiet, unassuming nature and cheerful disposition, ever thoughtful of those about here and was beloved by all who knew her, as she goes to her eternal rest it is but the rounding out of a beautiful life.
