June 19, 1992Bessie May Arney, 92, of Hartley, died Friday, June 19, in Hartley.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today in the Baumgarten Funeral Chapel, Spencer, with the Rev. Bruce Branson officiating.
Casket Bearers: Claire Erickson, Orville Taylor, Berl Tjenhen, Archie Taylor, Glen Taylor, and Dale Taylor.
Burial will be in Dickens Cemetery
Mrs. Arney was born May 19, 1900 at Dickens, the daughter of George and Lucy (White) Taylor. She moved with her family to Minnesota and graduated from high school in Aitken, Minnesota. She attended Globe Business College in St. Paul, Minnesota and worked several businesses, including the Dickens Savings Bank.
She married Oliver Elsworth Arney on March 8, 1925 at Dickens. They lived at Tipton, Dickens and rural Spencer until his death in 1972. Mrs. Arney lived at the Tangney Hotel in Spencer for several years and worked for several businesses including H&N Chevrolet. Since 1984 she had been a resident of the Mann Nursing Wing at Hartley. She was affiliated with the Presbyterian Church and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Mrs. Arney was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and nine brothers.
She is survived by one sister, Alice Barton of Mankato, Minnesota and several nieces and nephews.
