Peggy Gayle Arndt, 54, Dickens, died Tuesday, February 9, 1999, at Spencer Municipal Hospital.

Funeral services will be held today at 1:30 p.m. at Friends Church in Arnolds Park. The Rev. Jim Welle will officiate.

Casket Bearers; Steve Streit, Dennie Storey, Jr., Kirby Rohweder, Don Storey, Jamie Storey and Bob Hughes.

Honorary Casket Bearers; Kim Stangel, Denny Storey, Jason Rose, Roger Finney.

Burial will be at Dickens Cemetery

Peggy Gayle Arndt, the daughter of Henry Renke and Jennie Louise (Stangel) Hinders, was born on April 16, 1944 in Hartley. Her childhood years were spent near May City and Hartley and later Arnolds Park and Spirit Lake, where she received her education.

On June 9, 1961, she married Gary LeRoy Arndt in Cherokee. Following their marriage, the couple lived in the communities of Dickens, Spencer and Bena, Minnesota before moving back to Dickens. She owned and operated the "Runaway Restaurant and Lounge for 14 years in Ruthven and had sung with the Denny Storey Band for several years. She was also a member of the Friends Church of Arnolds Park.

Mrs. Arndt had a great love for her cats, birds and loved her collection of angels. She also enjoyed singing and just being with her family, taking care of everyone else's needs and then her own.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Sally Sue Rose Hinders.

She is survived by her husband, Gary, of Dickens; two daughters, Tracy Lea Arndt Bang of Grand Rapids, Minnesota and Tricia Lynn Norgaard and her husband, Todd of Dickens; eight grandchildren, one brother, Jerry Hinders and his wife, Debbie of Spirit Lake; two sisters, Connie Morisch and her husband, Bill of Long Prairie, Minnesota and Linda Storey and her husband, Denny, of Dickens.

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer in charge of arrangements.
