Funeral for Oren LeRoy Curry, 83, of Dickens was Thursday morning from Warner Chapel in Spencer. The Rev. Ken Setterlin officiated.

Casket Bearers; Clifford Nissen, Lester Sennert, Charles Hagedorn, David Hochsteller, Ted Alger and Allen Nissen

Honorary Bearers; Wayne Berenger, Jim Hagedorn, Ronnie Fitzloff, Walt Berns, Darrell Alger and Duane Becker

Military services were conducted at the graveside by Dickens American Legion Post No. 194.

Burial was at the Dickens Cemetery.

He was born on February 26, 1896 in Chilicothe, Ohio to Arthur and Arthie (Dourghty) Curry and received his education there. He moved to Dickens area as a young man where he lived with his aunt and uncle.

Oren was in the military and following his service, returned to Dickens. He moved to South Dakota in 1923 where he worked for the railroad and also farmed. He returned to Dickens in 1937 where he was a cook for several years before retiring in 1961.

He married Pearl O'Dell in August, 1917 in Dickens. Pearl died in 1935.

Oren later remarried Lillian Anderson on June 27, 1952 in Spencer. She died in 1958.

He was a charter member of Dickens Legion Post 194 and also the Dickens Methodist Church.

He is survived by a son, Arthur of Redwood, California; three daughters, Mrs Allen (Arlene) Averill and Mrs. Lowell (Gladys) Thomas both of Everly and Mrs LeRoy (Charlotte) Arndt of Dickens; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer was in charge of arrangements.
