Funeral Services for William Russell Crane, 66, Dickens, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Warner Chapel, Spencer. The Rev. Marilyn Hamilton will officiate.

Mr. Crane died Tuesday, December, 1987, at the Veterans Hospital, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Casket Bearers: Charlie Nelson, Eugene O'Clair, Jim Lorenz, Paul Kiley, Neil Scoles and Bob Dillard.

Honorary Casket Bearers: Leonard Beck, Mike Homan, Lauren Miller, Melvin Whalen, Chuck Hagedorn, Hubert Jones, Richard Hott and Les Sennert.

The son of Harry and Rebecca (Henderson) Crane. Mr. Crane was born December 16, 1920 in Dickens. He received his education in Dickens, graduating in 1938.

After high school, he worked in Chicago for two years until entering in the U.S. Army in 1942. While serving with the Army during World War II, he was awarded three bronze stars for the battles in Rome Arno, Northern Apennies and Po Valley as well as the Good Conduct Metal. He was honorary discharged from active duty November 6, 1945.

Following his discharge, he came back to Dickens and did construction work for a short period of time, until becoming a trucker, an occupation he continued for the rest of his life.

He was a member of the Eagles and the American Legion of Dickens.

Survivors include his mother; two brothers, Tom of Milford and Carl of Spencer; and two sisters, Marian Carey of Spencer and Lucille Hamrick of Ft. Dodge.

He was preceded in death by his father

The Warner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
