September 1981Services for George Marion Brinkley, 73, of Spencer were held Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Warner Chapel. The Rev. Manzel Berlin officiated with burial in the Dickens Cemetery.
Brinkley was born August 26, 1908 in Clay County, the son of Ebb and Eva (Brown) Brinkley. After receiving his education, he entered the military in 1941, serving with the Army until 1945 primarily with the military police. After his discharge, he returned to Iowa where he spent the majority of his life in Clay County. He also lived in California and Milford. He was employed by the Sieh Farm Drainage Co. until his retirement in 1975
He died Friday at the Longhouse Residence in Spencer.
His parents and two brothers, Wesley and Donald preceded him in death.
Brinkley's survivors include four brothers, Verne and Kenneth, both of Spencer, Dale of Milford and Roy of San Ysidro, California; and seven sisters, Mrs. Lela Swanson, Mrs. Loretta Iverson, Mrs. Ruby Fitzloff and Mrs. Margaret Johanson all of Spencer, Mrs. Helen Hoffman of Spirit Lake, Mrs. Virginia Behrens of Everly and Mrs. Mary Schoning of Milford.
The Warner Funeral Home of Spencer was in charge of the service arrangements.
