October 1, 1990Steven James Allen, 49, of Spirit Lake, died Monday, October 1, at his home of heart failure.
Services were Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home. The Rev. Walter Hamer officiated.
Casket Bearers; Carl Crane, Bill Dean, Mike Eddy, Dick Howard, Larry Kelley, Jeff Lukes
Honorary Casket Bearers; Boy Scouts of Troop 167 and Cub Scouts of Pack 168
Burial was in North Lawn Cemetery, Spencer
Mr. Allen was born September 18, 1941 in Spencer to Arlo and Arlie Gilbert Allen. He graduated from Spencer High School in 1960 and attended the Humboldt Institure in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1960-1962.
On November 24, 1962, he married Carol Jean George in Spencer. Mr. Allen was a gunsmith and auto mechanic. He had also owned and operated Allen Marine Sales and Service in Spirit Lake.
Mr. Allen was a past member of the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, DeMoley, student manager for varsity sports for six years, member of the "S"Club for four tears, and adult leader for Cub Scouts, assistant and or Scout Master in Boy Scouts for the last years, a member of the Upper Des Moines Opportunity Board of Directors, a member of the nine county UDMO Regionial Board and a member of the Spirit Lake School Parent Advisory Board.
He is receded in death by his father.
Mr. Allen is survived by his wife; six children, Bryan, Christine, Thomas, Scott, Mark and Sherry and his mother, all are of Spirit Lake
