MRS. F. [S.] J. STOKES

Last rites were held in Spencer Friday afternoon, July 3, for Mrs. F. [S.] J. Stokes of Algona, Iowa, former resident of Spencer, who died Wednesday evening July 1, 1931, at the home of her son, Guy Stokes, of Algona. Death followed a lingering illness of two years. Mrs. Stokes was 81 years of age at the time of her death.

Services were held Friday afternoon in Algona at the Stokes home at one-thirty and burial was made in the Riverside cemetery at Spencer.

Mrs. Stokes was well known in Spencer where she had made her home for many years, previous to the death of her husband [Samuel], a member of the Grand Army of the Republic. She was a member of the Methodist church and an active worker in all church organizations, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for forty years, and loyal member of the Woman's Relief Corps.

Besides her son Guy, and his wife and daughter, Miss Ruth, Mrs. Stokes is survived by two brothers, and a host of friends who mourn her death.
