William Arnett was born July 16, 1826, at Leppington, Yorkshire, England. He came to the United States in 1849 settling with others from England near Neponset, Bureau county, Illinois.
In 1865 he recrossed the Atlantic and spent sixteen months in England where he married at York in 1866 Miss Elizabeth Manchester who survives him.
Returning to the United States soon after his marriage Mr. Arnett again settled in Bureau county, Illinois, where he made his house until 1895 when he removed to Elberon, Iowa.
Seven years ago he came to Clay county and after two years residence in the country moved to Spencer, where he passed away Tuesday evening, May 28, 1907 after an illness of several months.
Seven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Arnett, five of whom are still living: Mr. T.A. and J.V. Arnett near Spencer, Mr. A.W. Arnett of DeGraff, Minnesota, and Mrs. F. Brown of Neponset, Illinois.
Funeral services were held from the home on West Fifth street Friday afternoon at 2:30 and interment was in Riverside cemetery.
