September 27, 2002A funeral service for Rose Belle Andersen, 63, of Marathon, will be held today, October 1, 2002, at the United Methodist Church in Marathon.
The Rev. David Schumann will lead the 2 p.m. service.
Mrs. Andersen died Friday, September 27, 2002, at her home.
Burial will be at Garfield Cemetery, near Webb.
Rose Belle Andersen was born on January 10, 1939 near Marathon. She was the daughter of Wilbur and Fern (Martin)Peterson. She graduated from Marathon High School and worked for Garton Electric in Marathon before her marriage.
On March 9, 1963, she married Howard Andersen in Marathon. The couple lived on a farm near Marathon where Mrs. Andersen worked and raised chickens. She was also and Avon representative and worked at the Spencer Daily Reporter booth at the Clay County Fair.
Mrs. Andersen was a 48 year member of the United Methodist Church in Marathon. She was active in church, having been a Sunday School teacher and recently served on the church board. She also belonged to various church and neighborhood clubs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a sister.
Survivors include her children: Joel Andersen of Des Moines, Carol Andersen of Jackson, Mississippi, and Steven Andersen of Webb; one grandson; one sister, Sharon (Darrel) McConkey of Storm Lake; and one brother, Wilbur Peterson of Maurice.
The Smith-Loterbour-Powers Funeral Home of Laurens in charge of arrangements.
