Ernest H. Chew of Peoria, Illinois, died Monday evening of this week at the home of Mrs. Nettie Galbraith, West Fifth street, Spencer, at 7:25 o'clock following an illness of five months. Death was caused by injuries sustained in an accident last June.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon of this week at the McClay depot at 1:30 o'clock and at two o'clock in the Methodist church in Webb. Rev. A.B. Cuthbert, pastor of the Methodist church of Webb, will officiate and burial will be made in the Garfield cemetery.

Mr. Chew was born July 19, 1878, in Poweshiek county, Iowa, where he spent his youth. In 1882 he moved to Cherokee county where he made his home until 1897 when he came to Clay county. He continued to make his home here for a few years, and then removed to White, South Dakota, where he was later united in marriage to Miss Mabel Spencer in November, 1903. Mr. and Mrs. Chew made their home in White for several years and thence they moved to Peoria, Illinois, where they lived until four months ago when they returned to Spencer to live. They had been making their home with Mrs. Nettie Galbraith on West Fifth street at the time of Mr. Chew's death.

Mr. Chew was employed as a mechanic until ill health prevented him from working.

He is survived by his wife and one son, Harry Chew of Niles Center, Illinois, two daughters, Mrs. F. Hildebrand of Peoria, Illinois, and Mrs. Kenneth Chamberlain of Spencer, one brother, Sid Chew of Niles Center, Illinois, three sisters, Mrs. W.A. Gowen of Webb, Mrs. H.A. Adams of Denver, Colorado and Mrs. A.A. Bishop, his father, F.G. Chew of Moneta, other relatives and a host of friends.
