Bonnie Lee Marilyn (Peterson) Carpenter passed forward to her heavenly life on June 15, 2013 at Springfield Regional Hospital, Springfield, Ohio.

Bonnie was born on August 12, 1928 in Cedar Falls, Iowa, to Harry and Cecile Peterson. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pomeroy, Iowa and lived in Grand Junction and Ute before moving to Peterson, Iowa.

Bonnie graduated from Peterson High School in 1945 and graduated from Buena Vista and Morningside Colleges with degrees in education. She taught for 43 years in the Sioux Valley school district and at the Winnebago Indian Mission School in Winnebago, Nebraska.

Bonnie married Alvin Frank Carpenter on May 17, 1947 in Sioux City, Iowa. To this union, one son was born, Michael Alvin Carpenter. When not teaching, Bonnie enjoyed her life as a farmers wife on the Carpenter family farm near Linn Grove, Iowa. She was an avid gardener, loved to read and very involved with her family and friends.

After the death of Alvin, she moved to Spencer, Iowa, to be close to family and in 2008 she relocated to Springfield, Ohio. She resided at the Ohio Masonic Community in Springfield, Ohio and remained there until her death.

Bonnie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Linn Grove, Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer, and Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Springfield, Ohio.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; husband Alvin, and sister, Charlene Minard from Alta, Iowa.

Left to cherish her memory is her son Michael and daughter-in-law Carolyn of New Carlisle Ohio; granddaughter, Samantha Carpenter Flores and great grandson Andres Flores of Clarksville, Tennessee; nieces Mary (Pat) Minard Mulvihill of Hudson, Florida and Nancy Minard of Alta, Iowa; nephews John Minard of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Tom and Steve Minard of Orlando, Florida; as well as many relatives and friends in Iowa and Ohio.
