George W. Gould, who passed away Tuesday, March 31, at 12:45 noon at the home of his son, J. Elliot Gould, East Third street, was accorded funeral services Thursday afternoon.

Rites took place at 2 p.m. at the Cobb funeral chapel, with Rev. Forrest L. Richeson, pastor of the Christian church, officiating.

Mr. and Mrs. S.R. Axe sang "Abide With Me" and "The Old Rugged Cross," with Mrs. C.D. Eckerman at the piano.

Casket bearers were John Shaw, Hugh Shaw, O.S. Dorman, N.P. Christensen, George Henderson and Will Flint, and interment was in the Dickens cemetery.

Lived in Illinois

Mr. Gould was born January 23, 1851, at Middlebury, Vt., the son of George and Emmer (Bowman) Gould, and at his death was 85 years, two months and eight days of age.

When a child he accompanied his parents to Kane county, Ill., and was married in 1883 to Melinda Johnson, who died in November 1929.

They moved to Clay county, Iowa in 1908, making their home on a farm east of Spencer until 1926 when he retired from farming and moved to Spencer. Since the death of his wife, he has made his home with his children.

Four Children

The four children born to Mr. and Mrs. Gould survive their father. They are Byron and Nathan Gould, and Mrs. L.H. Knight, who live on farms near Spencer, and J. Elliot Gould of Spencer. There also remain 18 grandchildren, and two brothers, W.N. Gould of Aurora, Ill., and H.P. Gould of Elburn, Illinois.
