Funeral services were held for Mrs. H. Beams at the Methodist church in Dickens at 3 o'clock Christmas afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Alex Monk, Tommy Monk, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bradley and daughter, Florence and Mrs. J.W. Monk and daughters, Alice and Leone, attended the funeral. Mrs. Beams was 62 years old and made her home for seventeen years
near Dickens before moving to Idaho where she died.

Mrs. Hattie L. Beams, former resident of Dickens and community for seventeen years, died at her home in Buhl, Idaho, Thursday, December 22, 1927, following a stroke of paralysis on December 9. At the time of her death she was 62 years, 4 months and 4 days of age.

Hattie L. Hunt was born near Madison county, New York, October 18, 1865, living there with her parents until nine years of age when she moved with her parents to Iowa, remaining in the state for one year. She then stayed with her grandparents in Forest City, Winnebago county, for four years. At the age of fourteen, Mrs. Beams went to Wisconsin to be with her parents from December 1 until in May, moving from there to Oriskany Fall, Oneida county, New York, to be with an aunt. After eight years she was united in marriage to Harvey Dewitt Beams, December 22, 1887.

Mr. and Mrs. Beams lived near Oriskany Falls following their marriage for twelve years, moving later to Oneonta where they located for one year. In 1900 they came to Iowa residing in the state and near Dickens for seventeen years.

In June 1917, Mr. and Mrs. Beams moved to Denton, Montana where they lived for a short time, going from Denton to Buhl, Idaho, the following November. Buhl had been the home of Mr. and Mrs. Beams since that time.

She is survived by her aged parents, one sister in Madison, Kansas, one brother in California, besides her husband and five children, William H. Beams of Dickens, Mrs. Ruth H. Monk of Ruthven, Mrs. Elizabeth M. Miller of Dickens, Mrs. Daisy O'Clair of Everly and Carl W. Beams of Buhl, Idaho. Ten grandchildren and other relatives and a host of friends in Dickens and Buhl also survive.

The body was brought to Dickens where burial was made in the Dickens cemetery on Christmas Day.
