Mabel Pauline Rose, the daughter of Harry and Clara (Bruhn) Prince, was born on April 11, 1911, on a farm in Poweshiek County near Grinnell, Iowa. Her family moved to Pipestone, MN when she was 5, where she received her early education and graduated from High School. Following graduation, she moved with her family to Sioux City, IA, where she was employed in a department store and later as a bookkeeper for a laundry service.

She married Albert Martin and they moved to Lewistown, MT where her husband was a co-owner of a John Deere Implement and she worked as a bookkeeper. Albert passed away from cancer in 1956.

On June 7, 1960, Mabel married Jack Rose in Roundup, MT. Following their marriage, they moved to farm near Gillett Grove, IA.

They spent many years traveling with campers and travel trailers. Mabel was an accomplished artist. She has painted many pictures and has given them to friends and businesses.

After Jack passed away March 21, 1992, Mabel remained in Spencer for the rest of her life. Mabel was a member of the Dickens United Methodist Church.

Mabel passed away on March 26, 2007, at St. Lukes Lutheran Home in Spencer, at the age of 95. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Roland and Gerald.

Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Edith Donaldson of Spencer, IA; her niece, Marjean Vote of Dexter, IA; two stepsons: William Rose and his wife, Shigko of Cutback, MT and Timothy Rose and his wife, Cindy of Grand Junction, CO; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
