Funeral Services Last Wednesday for Florence Tlam

Funeral services were held last Wednesday afternoon at the Langdon M. E. church for Miss Florence Tlam, 23, of Langdon, who passed away last Monday, January 7, 1935, of pneumonia. Rev. Edgar Hammerie of Arnolds Park and Rev. M. M. Schaper, pastor of the Langdon M. E. church, officiated.

A quartet from the choir sang, 'Jesus, Lover of My Soul," and "Nearer, My God, to Thee." A wealth of beautiful flowers expressed the high esteem and deep sympathy of the many friends. Interment was in the Meadow township cemetery.

Attend from Away

Out-of-town relatives and friends who were present were: Mr. and Mrs. Garret Kershergen of Newton; Mr. and Mrs. John Ringering, Mr. and Mrs. William Ringering and Miss Martha Ringering of Everly; Mr. and Mrs. William Stanz of Emmetsburg; and Oliver Reno and Maurice Jones of Terril.

Miss Tlam was born April 1, 1911, in Dickinson county, the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Tlam. She attended the rural schools and the Spencer high school. In 1928 she was employed by John Hopkins and worked for four years in his Langdon store here she became widely known and highly respected by a large number of friends.

Ill Short While

Since that time she has been staying with her brother, Ira Tlam, at whose home her death occurred. She was taken ill with pleurisy the previous Thursday, pneumonia developing.

Miss Tlam was a member of the Langdon Methodist church. She possessed a beautiful voice and gave freely of her talent in the local choir for a number of years. She was also prominent in various other young people's activities in the community.

Her parents survive her, and the following brothers and sisters: Ira Tlam of Langdon, William Tlam of Jeffers, Minn., Mrs. E. C. Ketcham, Mrs. Vernon Overocker and Miss Mildred Tlam, all of Langdon, besides other relatives and a wide circle of friends.
