Ulysses Grant Cauvel, 1863-1931

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in Spencer at the Cobb Funeral Chapel for Ulysses Grant Cauvel of Federal Dam, Minnesota, former resident of Rossie, Iowa, who died last Wednesday, August 26, at a hospital at Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Death was caused by heart trouble.

Services were held at the chapel at three o'clock in charge of Rev. W. F. Hurst, pastor of the local Church of Christ. Mrs. Claude Pullen sang several selections. Burial was made at the Riverside cemetery.

Ulysses Grant Cauvel was born in Stephenson county, Illinois, April 24, 1863. When ten years of age, he moved to Clay county, near Rossie, Iowa, with his parents where he made his home until in the spring of 1917. In 1917 he moved to Federal Dam, Minnesota, where he was engaged in farming.

Mr. Cauvel had been ill for about five years but was not taken critically ill until Saturday, August 22, when he was taken to the hospital at Grand Rapids for treatment. There he passed away Wednesday at the age of 68 years.

He is survived by a brother Charles W. Cauvel of Federal Dam, Minnesota, who accompanied the body to Spencer, a sister Mary Cauvel of Los Angeles, California, three nieces and three nephews.
