Dorthea (Drier) Kaus
March 31, 1853-May 17, 1930Mrs. Dorthea Kaus, nee Drier, was born in the Province of Hanover, Germany, March 31, 1853 and passed away at the home of her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Charley Randt, Terril, May 17, 1930 at the age of seventy-seven years, one month and seventeen days.
In Germany she received her religious training and was baptized and confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran State Church of Hanover and remained a faithful member of the Lutheran faith until her death.
She was about nineteen years of age when she came to the United States going first to Franklin County near Hampton, Iowa. The family moved near Spencer and in 1912 they moved to the city of Spencer. After it became impossible for them to keep their own home, they lived with their daughter, Mrs, Schoneman at Spencer. Last winter she became much more ill and with her husband came to Terril to stay with her other daughter, Mrs. Charley Randt and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Kaus were married many years ago. This union was blessed with three children, Mrs. Lizzie Randt of Terril, Heinrich Kaus and Wihelmio Schoneman both of Spencer. The last services were held at one o'clock from the house and later from the Lutheran Church, Rev. Gilsier officiatin. The body was laid to rest in the Fostoria Cemetery
