Warren Henry Heikens
September 27, 1921- January 21, 1979

Funeral for Warren Henry Heikens, 57, of rural Spencer was held Thursday morning from Bethany Lutheran Church of Spencer.

Pastor Norman Stubbendick and the Rev. LeRoy Nattress officiated.

Burial was at Summit Township Cemetery in the rural Spencer area.

Bearers; Marvin Heikens, Delmar Christensen, Tom Whitmore, Dale Heikens, Bernie Brandt and Virgil Bendlin

Honorary Bearers; Berkley Bedell, Joe Green, John Greer, Martin Barry, Fred Moore, Marvin Snith, Vivian Hales and Kenneth Miller

Mr. Heikens died Sunday, January 21 at the Spencer Municipal Hospital.

He was born September 27, 1921 in Spencer to William and Martha (Thompson) Heikens.

On February 3, 1945, he was married to Marjorie Sommers in Spencer.

Mr. Heikens was raised and educated in the Spencer community. After marriage, the couple made their home near Spencer where he was engaged in farming most of his life.

He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, an active member of the Democratic Party where he served as Clay County Chairman a numerous of years. He was a member of the National and Iowa Farmer's Union. For six years he worked for the ASCS of the Agricultural Department and the Iowa Commerce Department.

Survivors include his widow, Marjorie of Spencer; two sons, Steve of Iowa City and Alan of Des Moines; two daughters, Mrs. Lisa Nelson of Spencer and Martha Heikens of Zearing; three grandchildren; two brothers, Merle of Spencer and Leonard of Westminster, Colorado; and three sisters, Mrs. Anna Nattress of Spencer, Gladys Heikens of Greely, Colorado and Mrs. Lillian Watts of Phoenix, Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister in infancy, Florence Mae; one brother, Clarence.

The Warner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
