Henry Winterboer, Prominent Everly Farmer, Dies
Henry Winterboer, 76, prominent Everly resident and area cattlefeeder, died of a heart attack Saturday morning, February 9, 1963, as he was driving to Spencer accompanied by his wife. Only two miles from his home, Mr. Winterboer slumped away from the wheel. Mrs. Winterboer, who does not drive, managed to free her husband's foot from the gas pedal and keep control of the car. She waved to a passing motorist who turned around and assisted in stopping the slowly moving car by reaching in and turning off the ignition key. Friends returned Mrs. Winterboer to her home.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, February 13, at 1:30 p.m. in the First Reformed Church at Everly with the Rev. Daniel Van"t Kirkhoff officiating. Interment was made in the Church Cemetery.
Mr. Winterboer had served as a director of his school district, was an elder and Sunday School teacher of the Everly First Reformed Church and a a member of the Farm Bureau.
He was married to Eva Dena Bleeker, March, 1912 and the couple have since lived at their present home seven miles north of Everly.
Survivors include his wife, Eva; two daughters, Mrs. Arlen Thompson, Spencer and Mrs. Elwyn Follon, Everly; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. W.W. Meyer and Mrs. George Beving, both of Spencer; and two brothers, Dick, Spencer and Conrad, Everly.
