March 14, 1927-November 6, 1997Herman Winterboer, 70, Spencer, formerly of Everly, died Thursday, November 6, 1997.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 10, at 10:30 a.m., at Hope Lutheran Church, Everly, with the Rev. G. Duane Baun officiating.
Casket Bearers; Randy VerMulm, Rodney Boernsen, Duane Wilson, Roger VerMulm, Kent Kimball and Keith Fliss.
Burial was at First Reformed Cemetery in rural Everly with Warner Funeral Home of Spencer in charge of arrangements.
Herman Harm Winterboer, the son of Harm and Dena (Arends) Winterboer, was born March 14, 1927, in Dickinson County, near Everly. He received his early eduacation in Westport Township School, graduating from Everly Community High School in 1945. After completing his education, he began farming with his farm.
He married LaVonne Cobb on December 19, 1948, in Sioux Rapids. Their first home was located on the Harm Winterboer farm. In 1949, they purchased their present farm. In 1951, they moved their original home onto its present site. It was there he farmed throughout his adult life. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church of Everly, the Clay County Farm Bureau and the Clay County Cattleman.
Mr. Winterboer was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Clayton and his wife, Carol, of Carroll; Cedric and his wife, Marilyn, of rural Everly; and Charles and his wife, Jean, of Adel; one daughter, Shari Poffenbarger and her husband, Terry, of Council Bluffs; eight grandchildren; and one sister, Florence Selzer and her husband, Carl of Everly
