Anna Goldenstein Vanderhoff
October 16, 1872-March 26, 1941

Anna (Goldenstein) Vanderhoff, daughter of Henry and Heska Goldenstein, was born on October 16, 1872 in Ostfriesland, Germany. She passed away in the home of her son, Theron Vanderhoff, of Ruthven, Iowa, on March 26, 1941 at the age of 68 years, 5 months and 10 days. Her death followed an eight week period of severe illness after a heart attack.

She, with her parents and family came to America in 1886, where they made their first home at Allison in Butler County, Iowa. She began to make her own way in life beginning at the age of 14 and in that pursuit came to Everly, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Ait E. Vanderhoff on October 9, 1893 at Spencer, Iowa. To this union nine children were born, of whom one, Ida Ruth died in infancy.

Mr. and Mrs. Vanderhoff and family made their home on a farm northwest of Everly for a period of 17 years. Then they moved to a farm six miles southwest of Ruthven in 1910, where, with the exception of a few years, they resided until death. Her husband passed away on December 5, 1926. She continued to live on the farm with her children.

She leaves to mourn her passing five sons and three daughter; George W. of Erie, Pennsylvania; Mrs. Anabelle Breidinger of Everly, Iowa; Mrs. Nora Berrier of McKeesport, Pennsylvania; Harold E. of Ruthven, Iowa; Urban T. of Davenport, Iowa; Victor H. and Theron U. both of Ruthven, Iowa; Mrs Verna Norris of Trenton, Missouri; three brothers; Robert J. Goldenstein and Heiko H. Goldenstein, both of Clara City, Minnesota and John Goldenstein of New York City. Besides these there are 20 grandchildren, many relatives and friends.

Mrs. Vanderhoff received her childhood Christian training in the Lutheran Church of Germany, where she was baptized and confirmed. Later in life she was baptized and affiliated with the Pentecostal Church at Spencer, Iowa.

Funeral services were held on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. from the home in Logan Township and at 2p.m.
from the Cobb Funeral Chapel in Spencer. Burial was made in the First Reform Cemetery near Fostoria.
