A. E. Vanderhoff
June 18, 1856-December 5, 1926A. E. Vanderhoff, a resident of Clay County for nearly fifty years, died at his home six miles southwest of Ruthven, Sunday morning, December 5, 1926. Death was due to erysipelas.
Mr. Vanderhoff was born in Germany, June 18, 1856, and was 70 years, 5 months and 17 days of age. He grew to young manhood in Germany and when he was twenty one years old he came to America settling on a farm north of Everly, where he lived for sixteen years. In 1893 he was married to Miss Annie Goldenstein at Spencer. Since their marriage they made their home in Clay County, living for a number of years on the farm near Ruthven.
Mr. Vanderhoff is survived by his wife and eight children; George of Spencer, Mrs. Harry Breidinger of near Spencer, and Mrs. Nora Barrier, Harold, Urban, Victor, Theron, and Verna of Ruthven. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Toni Sudman of New York and Mrs. Rizta Butler of Sheldon, Washington.
He was confirmed in Germany during his early boyhood and for several years has been attending Pentacostal Church.
Funeral services were held at 12 o'clock this noon from the home near Ruthven, conducted by J. Barnett, Pastor of the Pentacostal Church of Spencer. Interment was made in the First Reform Cemetery near Everly.
