MRS. EBB BRINKLEY CALLED SUDDENLY

LEAVES LARGE FAMILY AND HUSBAND TO MOURN AN EARLY DEATH

Mrs. Ebb Brinkley, 40 years old, a resident of clay county for the past twenty-nine years, and a mother of fourteen children, passed away Thursday morning, June 19, at two o'clock at her home four and a half miles south of Spencer, following a short illness. Death was caused from heart trouble and complications.

Since the birth of her baby girl, Mary Jane, two months ago, Mrs. Brinkley has been in poor health, but during the last few weeks, seemed to be improving. Her death was a shock to her relatives and many friends and she is sadly missed by her family.

Eva Content Brown, the daughter of Mrs. George S. Brown of East Fourth street, Spencer, was born August 15, 1889, at Paullina, Iowa. She remained there until she was three years of age, and at that time, with her parents, moved to Palo Alto county and located on a farm near Ayrshire, where they lived for eight years. In 1900 she moved with her parents to Clay county, Logan Center township, where she lived until two years ago. She received her education in the rural schools near Ayrshire and at Logan Center township.

On December 19, 1906, she was united in marriage to Ebb W. Brinkley. To this union fourteen children were born, seven daughters, Lela, Loretta, Helen, Ruby, Margaret, Virginia, Mary Jane and seven sons, George, Wesley, Vern, Dale, Kenneth, Leroy and Donald. The baby, Mary Jane is but two months old. The children are all at home with Mr. Brinkley.

After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Brinkley continued to live on a farm in Logan Center township until two years ago, when with their family they moved to a farm south of Spencer where they had since lived.

During her residence in Logan Center, Mrs. Brinkley was confirmed in the Evangelical faith.

Besides her husband and fourteen children, all at home, she is survived by her mother, Mrs. George S. Brown, two brothers, Lester Brown of Spencer, James Brown of Des Moines, a sister, Miss Mertie Brown of Spencer, an aunt, Mrs. May Wilcox of Mitchell, South Dakota, and numerous other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Methodist church in Dickens. Rev. Peterson, pastor, had charge of the services. Burial was made in the Dickens cemetery.

Among the out-of-town relatives at the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Harry Creger of Plainfield; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Phurman of Paullina, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. McPherson of Sioux Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Cox, Mrs. C. H. Cookingham and daughter, Miss Gertrude of Ayrshire; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Minor of near Austin, Minnesota, Mrs. May Wilcox of Mitchell, South Dakota, and James Brown of Des
Moines.
