A funeral service for Donald Sidles, 63, of Spencer, was held Monday, May 13, 2002, at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer. The Rev. Tom Dettmer led the 11 a.m. service. Mr. Sidles died at the Spencer Hospital on Friday, May 10, 2002.

Casker Bearers; Mike Johnson, Stacy Fries, Allan Dreblow, Travis Fries, Dan Sidles, Tome Burke, Seth Fries and Casey Sidles.

Honorary Casket Bearers; Walt Bern, Arnie Rasmussen, Carol Meyer, Mike Sievers, Manny Barron, Roger Solberg, Joe Schomaker and Steve Frick.

Burial will be at First Reformed Cemetery in Everly.

Donald George Sidles, the son of Earl and Ethel (Beulharst) Sidles, was born November 28, 1938, in Estherville. He received his early education and graduated from Terril High School in 1957. He farmed in the Wallingford area.

On February 9, 1973, he married Ilene Fries in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They continued to farm until 1982 When they moved to Spencer. Mr. Sidles then started working at Rohlin Construction. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife; two sons; Kevin Sidles and his wife, Nikki, of Independence, and Wayne Sidles of Waterloo; two daughters and their husbands; Ranae and Brian Hawk, and Wanda and Steve Sundblad, all of Spencer; four grandchildren; one sister, Delores Johnson of Coon Rapids, Minnesota; one brother and his wife, Ronald and Diane Sidles of Emmetsburg; other relatives and friends.

Warner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
