Carl Frederick Selzer, 73, Everly, died August 22, 1999, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 25, at the First Reformed Church in Everly with Rev. David E. Loveall officiating.

Casket Bearers; Lance Selzer, Mike Hanson, Cedric Winterboer, Charlie Selzer, Jr., Clayton Winterboer.

Honorary Casket Bearers; Adriana Selzer, Elizabeth Selzer, Danielle Selzer and Dustin Selzer.

Burial will be held at the First Reformed Church Cemetery, Everly with Warner Funeral Home of Spencer in charge of arrangements.

Carl Frederick Selzer, the son of George C. and Irma (Blackmer) Selzer, was born August 16, 1926 near Royal, where he attended many country schools, Carl later attended and graduated from Spencer High School. Following his schooling, he entered the military and served in Germany with US Army from 1951 until his honorable dicharge in 1953.

Carl married Florence Winterboer in June 4, 1954 at the First Reformed Church in Everly. Following their marriage, they farmed near Everly for 23 years. In 1977, they moved into Everly, where he worked as a custodian for the Everly School District, until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of the First Reformed Church near Everly. Carl was also a member of the Eagles, Farm Bureau in Spencer and a lifetime member of the Diabled Veterans. He had just recently joined Glen Pedersen Post #1 American Legion in Spencer.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son.

He is survived by his wife of Everly; one son, Dennis Selzer and his wife Wanda of Papillion, Nebraska; four grandchildren; eight brothers and sisters; Margaret Hanson and her husband, Orton, of Spencer; George Selzer of Spencer; Barbara Gustov of Plano, Texas; Kenneth and Lois Selzer of Windsor, Colorado; Ralph Selzer of Dickens; Donna and Bob Pena of San Fernado Valley, California; Charles Selzer and his wife, Lynn of Everly; and William Selzer and his wife Evelyn, of Everly; and one sister-in-law, LaVonne Winterboer.
