FORMER DICKENS GIRL SHOOTS SELF

Word has been received here of the suicide of Miss Emma Lavon Kelly, former Dickens resident, who shot herself at her home at Fayette, Iowa, last week. the cause has not been learned here. Miss Kelly was only 14 years of age and was well known in the vicinity of Dickens.

Funeral services were held in the Dickens Congregational church last Thursday afternoon, July 5, 1923. The pastor, Rev. W.H. Nye, conducted the services and the make quartet sang tow beautiful hymns.

Emma Lavon Kelly was born at Dickens, Iowa, on January 19, 1909. She removed to Canada, September 21, 1910, and returned to the United States July 11, 1911. She then moved to Fayette, Iowa, where she spent the remainder of her days.

She leaves to mourn her untimely death, her father, John Kelly of Fayette, and two brothers, Glen William of Norfolk, California, and Lee Vincent of Fayette. She also leaves other relatives and a large number of friends. She was a member of the Methodist church at Fayette. She possessed a happy cheerful disposition always ready with a smile and cheerful greeting which will be greatly missed by those who knew her best.
