Samuel Oliver Hargrave was born in Ontario County, Canada, November 14, 1850, and died at his home south of Dickens Friday, October 15, 1915, aged 64 years, 11 months and 1 day.
When twelve years of age moved to Fondulas, Wisconsin, with his parents where they lived for twelve years. They then came to Clay county, where he lived until his death. At the age of 24 years he was married to Alice Lillian Harvey, to whom there were born five children, George William, Phebe Anna, Mrs. Jessie Pearl Good, Charles Oliver and Martha Lillian, all living except Phebe Anna, who passed away December 7, 1884.
The family live near Dickens with the exception of Charles Hargrave, who makes his home in Portland, Oregon. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Jane Drake, of Rushford, Minnesota, and four brothers, J.J. Hargrave and W.H. Hargrave of Dickens and Geo. P. Hargrave and Bob J. Hargrave, of St. Johns, Washington.
Funeral services were held from the home October 18, conducted by Rev. Thompkins of Everly, interment being made in Dickens cemetery.
Those from away who attended the funeral were Charles Hargrave of Oregon, Robert Parsons of Rochester, Minn., and Charles Harvey of Bridgewater, S.D.
Mrs. Hargrave and family have the sympathy of all in their sorrow.
