Funeral services were held last Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Jones funeral home for Mrs. Sam Ferguson, 81, of Gillett Grove, who passed away at Gillett Grove last Tuesday, November 19, 1935. Rev. Barts, pastor of the Gillett Grove M.E. church, officiated.

Mrs. C.D. Barnard and Miss Lily Anderson offered requiem, with Mrs. Herbert Miller at the piano.

Casket bearers were Jim Howard, Hartman Anderson, Ray Walstrom, Art Evans, Ray Moore and Will Werts, and interment was in Logan cemetery.

Descendant of Campbell

Mrs. Ferguson, the former Annie Campbell, was born at Thornhill, Perthshire, Scotlan, February 23, 1854. She was the daughter of John and Annie Campbell, a direct descendant of the West Highland branch of Campbells of Craigish, and a member of the Free church of Scotland.

In 1893 Samuel Ferguson, who had purchased a farm 2 1/2 miles south of Gillett Grove, returned to Scotland and took her as a bride March 23. They came immediately to the new country and lived on their farm or in the town of Gillett Grove ever since.

Mrs. Ferguson was preceded in death by her husband, November 23, 1932. She leaves a son, Tom Campbell of Gillett Grove; a brother, James Campbell of Glasgow, Scotland; five grandchildren, and a niece.
